Dr. David C. Tudor Memorial Scholarship

Dr. David C. Tudor, a member of the Cranbury Lions since 1985, was a practicing veterinarian on Station Road, as well as a Professor at Rutgers University. "Doc" Tudor became a Melvin Jones Fellow in 1993, one of the highest Lion's awards, and was a member of the Cranbury Lions Board of Directors, as well as serving a term as Vice President. He was selected as Cranbury Lion of the Year in 1986. A scholarship, administered by the Cranbury Lions, has been established in his name. This scholarship is given annually to a Cranbury high school senior who will major in Science at an accredited college AND/OR to Cranbury college students already with a major in Science. The eligibility requirements, application procedures, and other information about this scholarship are as follows:

Eligibility

bulletCandidates must reside in Cranbury.

bulletThe scholarship is based on academic merit in Science.

bulletCandidates must be a high school senior accepted into an accredited college, with a major in Science AND/OR to college students already with a major in Science.   Preference will be given to candidates with an Agriculture or Life Science major.

bulletApplication will be made by April 15, and sent to:

bulletThe application will include where the scholarship will be used.

bulletA one page essay detailing why the candidate should be considered is part of the application.

bulletTwo recommendation letters from teachers or other school staff are required, with one from a Science teacher.

The Scholarship Award

bulletA final candidate shall be chosen and agreed upon by the Scholarship and Award Selection Committee. This final candidate shall be presented to the Cranbury Lions Board of Directors no later than the May Board of Directors Meeting (the Tuesday before the first Wednesday in May), for final approval.

bulletThe recipient shall receive the amount of $1000.

bulletThe award will be made at the chosen candidate's High School Graduation Ceremony.
